'Scud Stud' Not Happy With Cameo in 'Charlie Wilson's War'

Posted by Eriq Gardner

Kentarthur The producers of Universal's "Charlie Wilson's War" probably thought it was cute to include a clip of former NBC News journalist Arthur Kent reporting from the frontlines of Afghanistan.

But Kent isn't laughing. The former reporter, nicknamed the "Scud Stud" during his coverage of the first Iraq war, told the Canadian magazine Policy Options that he didn't like the film at all and made what we're going to take literally as a threat: "...oh yes, look out for next summer's blockbuster, 'The Son of Charlie Wilson's War: Quest For the Rightful Credits.' Coming to a law firm near you..."

Kent might have been joking, but remember that after he was fired from NBC, he took the network to court and eventually settled for an undisclosed amount. After spending time with BBC, the History Channel, and several other news outlets, Kent started a short documentary production company and is now running for the Canadian Congress as a member of the Progressive Conservatives party.
