The Pellicano Trial: No Mistrial, Closing Arguments Today

Posted by Eriq Gardner

Pellicano Looks like a false alarm. No mistrial in the Pellicano case as Judge Dale S. Fischer ruled that striking former LAPD Sgt. Mark Arneson's testimony about a bankruptcy petition and scheduled foreclosure of his home would be enough to not taint the jury. Arenson's attorney, Chad Hummel, argued for stronger measures after a prosecution witness admitted to playing a role in forging the bankruptcy petition.

Closing arguments in the case are set for today, and after that, Pellicano's fate will finally be in the jury's hands.

It would be wise for studio legal departments to audit the s#@% out of their studio security departments to make sure they fully comply with California's wiretapping statute.
