Uma Thurman's Parents Testify In Bizarre Stalker Trial

Posted by Eriq Gardner

Thurmanuma We imagine this is not the way Uma Thurman wished to celebrate her 38th birthday, but yesterday her parents were called to testify in a New York trial against a man accused of stalking the famous actress.

Of course, all stalkers seem somewhat deranged, but the allegations here seem particularly odd. According to the NY Times, Jack Jordan was a graduate of the University of Chicago and an unemployed pool cleaner, and what "attracted the intellectual Mr. Jordan" to Thurman was the allure of the distinctively scholarly and Buddhist Thurman clan.

In an odd defensive tactic, Jordan's lawyer George Vomvolakis said his client did not mean any harm or threat. “He’s a romantic,” Mr. Vomvolakis said. “He loves her. He wanted her to marry him.”

Thurman's parents seem to have put a great deal of patience dealing with Jordan, taking as many as 19 e-mails and a phone call. The NY Post reports some of the content of some of those e-mails, which described Thurman's ex-husband Ethan Hawke as a "charlatan" and claimed that Quentin Tarantino slept with "at least two" of Thurman's body doubles.
